Melanie is the daughter of Louie, Lord Mayor of New Orleans.
Viktor was tasked with kidnapping and turning her vampire as recompense to Jeorge, king vampire of New Orleans, for killing a member of his kiss. Since Viktor knows he will need the vampire’s goodwill to keep the port open to his frequent use without worry from that quarter, he agrees to the task/test.
Melanie’s new status as vampire affords Jeorge a means to spy on the pirate through her bond to her maker. She also, as the Lord Mayor’s daughter, provides him with political leverage among the current human powers-that-be.
Melanie makes her first appearance in Demon Bayou: Waves of Darkness #2.
