Clyde, the hero of the stories, started life as a Midwestern farm boy. He is the youngest of three bothers, all with a penchant for tinkering and mechanical repairs.
While his brothers chose to confine their skills to agricultural machinery, Clyde fell in love with airships. As his mechanic skills grew, he garnered occasional military contracts. These allowed him the means to explore the world.
His troubles began when his brothers ran afoul of the notorious jewel thief, Draeyger Woolfe. They’d taken their farm equipment innovations worldwide ,which placed them in Europe at just the wrong time. After stealing the Canary’s Eye, a large yellow diamond, Woolfe encounters them during his escape and makes them his patsies. He hands off a bag containing a high quality fake and flees before they realize what has happened.
In order to free his brothers from prison, Clyde has to capture the thief and return both him and the diamond.
